Environmental Control Unit FAQ

Q: What are the advantages of SAJE Technology products over other ECU products?

A: SAJE Technology products allow you to control your environment simply by using voice commands that you specify. With all of our products, there is NO VOICE TRAINING REQUIRED! Our speech recognition engine is speaker independent, so there are no long training sessions required as with most ECU systems on the market. The voice commands that you give the system are direct voice commands, with other ECU products on the market you navigate through a “Voice Tree”. This navigation can be extremely frustrating when trying to surf through television channels and completing multiple commands in a short period of time. With our products, you only need to speak the direct command (i.e. TVPOWER, BEDROOM LIGHT, DVD PLAY) and it will be executed.

Q: What types of devices can be controlled by SAJE Technology products?

A: Our products can control an endless array of devices.  Some of the devices we control on a normal basis include:

Q: What is the setup time for SAJE Technology products?

A: The setup time for our products varies greatly depending on which products you will be installing, and what options you have chosen.

• POCKETMATE and POCKETMATE plus VOICE 4 to 8 hours depending on the size of the installation.
• PHONEMATE 1 to 2 hours
• MOBILE PRODUCTS 5 minutes

Q: Does SAJE Technology provide technical support?

A: Technical support is available from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. Central Time, Monday through Friday via phone or email. We realize that there are times that installations are performed during off hours. Please notify us prior to the installation and we can make arrangements to schedule a tech for your specific needs.

PocketMate FAQ

Q: Can you describe the switch activation process on PocketMate?

A: PocketMate can be controlled by either one or two ability switches.  Using the single switch the desired operation is selected from the menu when it appears on the display. Using two switches the user can move through the options more quickly using the first switch and then select the operation with the second.  

Q: Does PocketMate provide visual feedback?

A: Yes, PocketMate has both auditory and visual feedback.  When scanning through the menu the operation and device is shown on the display.  When an option is selected a audible tone will be issued.

Q: Can PocketMate be programmed in the field in the event of a change of TV or other IR device?

A: Yes, PocketMate can be reprogrammed in the field.  The user will need access to the remote control for the device to be programmed, as well as the device to be controlled and follow the directions in the PocketMate users guide.

Q: Can PocketMate control a telephone?

A: Yes, PocketMate can control an optional IR telephone allowing the user to answer hang up and place telephone calls using either preprogrammed telephone numbers or temporary direct dialed telephone numbers.

Q:  How many devices can PocketMate control?

A:  The device has 256 slots that can be programmed with a command.  So the number of devices is effected by the number of commands you have for each device.  

Q:  Can PocketMate control my hospital bed.

A:  Yes, PocketMate can control features of most electronic beds.  Please contact us for specific information on your bed.  

Q:  Do I need a trained technician to program PocketMate?

A:  No, it is not necessary to have a technician program the device.
