What languages does Exam Reader 2 support?

The Exam Reader 2 reads 12 different languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Russia, Chinese (simplified).

Can these pens scan and read mathematical symbols?

The range of symbols and mathematical abbreviations is appropriate for learners up to Year 9 average, but we typically recommend avoiding use with symbols. Reading pens are best used to support with clarity of test questions.

How does audio feedback support readers?

Being able to listen to the words on the page breaks down the comprehension barrier between readers and their reading material. This multi-sensory way of reading supports skill growth and word recognition, as well as allowing learners to focus on enjoying the text, rather than getting stuck or frustrated.

How does the magic happen?

Reading pen technology works by relaying the words on the page to the user via audio: we call this ‘text-to-speech’. To use, it’s as simple as moving the pen across the words on the page. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and an industry-leading AI combine to make word feedback fast and simple.

How much can the pen scan at once?

You can scan multiple lines of text at once with all of our pen scanner devices, but not whole pages.

What can I read with it?

Our pen scanners can tackle text between font sizes 7 – 22, and in most standard fonts that you’d see used in printed materials. It can’t scan text on digital screens, or text on low-contrast backgrounds, so this might impact your scanning if you’re reading from colored paper.

What’s the difference between C-Pen Reader 2 and C-Pen Exam Reader 2?

Simply put… you can use C-Pen Exam Reader 2 in exams! C-Pen Reader 2 features storage functions, so it’s usually not approved for exam use. Exam Reader 2, however, is specifically designed for exam use and features no Wi-Fi or storage function at all. Contact your exam board to find out more about whether Exam Reader 2 is right for you!
