Apple Magic Keyboard Keyguard (2015 - 2021)

This keyguard fits the Apple Magic Keyboard up through early 2021.  The keyboard is rechargeable through the Lightning port on the back.  This does not fit the Apple Wireless Keyboard, nor the Apple Magic Keyboard introduced in 2021 (with USB-C charging), nor the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.  

Note in the pictures how the keys in the 4 corners of the keyboard have slightly rounded corners, all 4 being the same radius.  The Magic Keyboard 3 has much more rounded outside corners on the 4 keys in the corners.  This keyguard will not fit that keyboard.

This item does not come with a keyboard. This is to order the keyguard only.

This keyguard comes with no attachment method.  While gravity will hold the keyguard in place, most users prefer to stick it to the keyboard with tape or a mounting putty like Ble-Tack.  The keypad versions have room for a small amount of suction tape.  The standard versions do not.

Version: Choose the keyboard version that matches the layout of your keyboard.

Size: The default size of the keyguard is the same as the keyboard. You may optionally choose to add an oversized flange which adds an additional rim around the perimeter, extending beyond the keyboard and containing optional holes which you can use to devise your own mounting method.

By default, the keyguard will be the same size as the keyboard.

Material: Most keyguards are designed to fit around the keys, so if you pick an 1/8" thick material, the top of the keys will be just below the surface of the keyboard. Many people prefer a material of 3/16" or greater, to give a little more depth to the holes, requiring a more deliberate touch. 1/4" materials make for even deeper holes.

A popular choice is polycarbonate, which has a lifetime guarantee against breakage and nice, bevelled edges which make the keyguard softer to the touch.
