Greetings from the Orbit Support Team.

We are writing to share important maintenance guidance for Orbit Braille devices that are kept in inventory or stored without regular use.

Orbit Braille devices automatically run an internal maintenance cycle every 24 hours, even when switched off. This cycle exercises the Braille pins and helps maintain their long-term reliability. However, the cycle requires sufficient battery power to operate.

It is therefore important that every device in storage is fully charged at least once every two months.

 Please follow this charging routine:

  • Fully charge each device upon receipt.
  • Recharge every stored device at least once every two months. A full charge typically takes three to four hours.
  • Once fully charged, disconnect the charger and return the device to storage. There is no need to switch it on or perform any manual testing.

Please also observe the following storage precautions:

  • Store devices under the environmental conditions specified in the user documentation.
  • Keep them in their original packaging, or other suitable protective packaging, to prevent dust accumulation.
  • Do not stack unboxed devices or place objects on top of them. Properly boxed units and cartons may be stacked.

Please ensure that the two-month charging routine is followed for all Orbit Braille devices held in storage.

If you have any questions, please contact the Orbit Support Team.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Warm regards,

Orbit Support Team
