When I sit, my energy drains and I feel like I'm dying. As soon as I lie down, I come back to life. I actually asked [the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) in the Netherlands] for something simple, a bedside table. But occupational health and safety expert Peter Poortvliet immediately saw that more was needed. He listened carefully, thought along with me, and looked beyond my request [to an ErgoQuest workstation].
The first time I lay in my [Zero Gravity Workstation 0b-Flex], I felt clear-headed for the first time in months. It was like my mind was working again. Like I was back.
Working full-time isn't possible anymore, but I want to continue using my knowledge. I've never worked just for the money. I do it because I enjoy making something or learning something. That's what gives me satisfaction.
[The 0b-Flex is] my gateway to the world. At some point, I might be bedridden, but as long as I have this workspace, I can continue to learn, read, and communicate. That keeps me alive.
I want to show that technology can bring something positive, something that helps people. I'm happy to share that belief.
